We’ve all heard of the game 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon, but have you ever wondered how many degrees of separation are between you and the food you eat everyday? Most of us are more likely to be able to get to Kevin Bacon in six steps than to the farmer that raises your breakfast.
I will refrain from telling you about meat recalls — we’ve all heard scary reports — but I will take a moment to show you the alternative.
The majority of our meat comes from local farmers, families that we’ve done business with for years. They raise their meat with compassion, using old-fashioned farming techniques and not pumping the animals full of chemicals.
Now back to BACON! Our local bacon from Pork & Greens in Broken Bow, Oklahoma (http://thehaywire.typepad.com/) goes from the farm to an award winning USDA inspected facility at Big Cabin, Oklahoma. Then it is deliver directly to our store by our dear friend Mr. Pratt.
And as Porky would say, ”that’s all folks!” Farm to fork in less than 6 degrees of separation. Now if we could only get Kevin Bacon to be our delivery guy!
