Local to our Boot Straps
From October 2012 through March 2013, Matt and I each wore one pair of jeans for 6 months straight. No, it wasn’t because we were so busy getting the new store open that we didn’t have time to change (though it made wardrobe decisions and laundry significantly easier). We heard about a project by another local business called the Clean Start Project where a group of people pledge to wear the same pair of raw denim jeans for six months, at least six days a weeks, without washing them! We had to know more…the folks over at Blue 7 take their denim as seriously as we take our food. It was a match made it retail heaven–we have a serious business crush on them! The Clean Start 2012 program coincided perfectly with the opening of our new location in downtown OKC and exposed us to OKC’s amazing local vibe.
When we saw the announcements for this year’s Clean Start Project, we thought it would be fun to do it again and have our crew participate with us. So we looked at our advertising budget for the quarter and set aside a chunk to buy jeans for the Root Crew. So that is how we roped Joel, Megan, John and Brenda into going on this denim adventure with us. To actually justify this as a real advertising expense, we will be writing some posts about the status of our jeans and will be doing some print ads with the Roots Crew models.
We hope you enjoy following along and please come in to check out our staff in their jeans! Also, if you’ve never been to Blue 7, you should check it out. They recently opened a new wing of their shop called Just OK which features to Oklahoma made t-shirts, literature, art and more. We love keeping it local with them!
